WWE met with mixed reactions this year. From controversial Saudi Arabian pay-per-view to creative decisions, they faced too much criticism. However, WWE delivered one of the best of the year of wrestling in recent time. You will find amazing facts about WWE in 2018 in alphabetical order.

A – Asuka

Asuka entered in 2018 as an undefeated superstar in WWE. He even won first-ever women Royal Rumble match in history and challenged Charlotte for Women’s title. She lost her first-ever match at WrestleMania 34 against Charlotte and lost momentum in WWE as well. However in the year-end at Table, Ladders, and Chairs (TLC) PPV she becomes SmackDown Women’s champion.

B – Brock Lesnar

Current Universal Champion Brock Lesnar once again dominated 2018. Besides all expectations, he defeated Roman Reigns cleanly at WrestleMania 34. However, he lost the title on Summerslam but again regain the title in Crown Jewel when Reigns forfeit the title. He was criticised by WWE fans always for his very limited appearances.

C – Crown Jewel

Crown Jewel was a very controversial show of WWE this year. Despite many speculations, WWE presented the show from Saudi Arabia. Shawn Micheals returned from retirement in the show to team up with his DX teammate Triple H against the brothers of Destruction The Undertaker and Kane. Fans also saw the return of Hulk Hogan and Shane McMahon winning World Cup.

D – Daniel Bryan

Will Bryan again wrestle? It was one of the top topics of discussion in the last three year. We got the answer in 2018. WWE and Bryan announced his return as an active wrestler and he teamed up Shane McMahon against his bitter rivals from SmackDown Sami Zayn And Kevin Owens. However, his feud with The Miz was much awaited but never goes beyond expectations.  But an unexpected heel turn and dethroning AJ Styles from WWE championship was a major turn and “New” Daniel Bryan is more entertaining than old.

E – Evolution

Arguably the best pay-per-view of the year and also the first-ever all women pay-per-view. It defined the women’s wrestling in WWE. Ronda Rousey, Nikki Bella, Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and yesteryear stars like Trish Stratus, Lita and all other women superstars defined the show.

F – Finn Balor in SummerSlam

2018 was not the best year for Finn Balor. Mostly he didnt’t involved in a feud. However, during his feud with constable Baron Corbin, he returned in his “The Demon” character on SummerSlam and the reaction of the live crowd was everything to say.

G – Greatest Royal Rumble

WWE’s first-ever pay-per-view from Saudi Arabia was filled with mixed reactions. Card of the show was nearly equal to WrestleMania level. John Cena, Triple H, The Undertaker, Kurt Angle, Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, and Rey Mysterio, they have all top cards in the show. The show featured biggest Royal Rumble match ever in WWE ultimately won by Braun Strowman.

H – Hell In a Cell 2018

2018 edition of Hell In a Cell was better in recent years. The clash between Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman, AJ Styles Vs Samoa Joe, Ronda Rousey Vs Alexa Bliss, matches were great and delivered to their expectations. In the most shocking moment in the main event, Brock Lesnar returned and destroyed everyone inside the cell.

I – Intercontinental championship

Intercontinental championship got well-deserved appreciation in 2017 and 2018 was nothing different. Championship holders The Miz, Seth Rollins, Dolph Ziggler and now Dean Ambrose. This championship got well deserved competion better than other Raw’s championship Universal championship.

J – Johnny Gargano

Gargano/Tommaso Ciampa feud defined the NXT this year. Even his heel turn is also welcomed by fans and it is very hard to argue anything about the majesty of ‘Johnny Wrestling’s 2018.

K – Kurt Angle

Kurt Angle served as a general manager of Raw most of the year. He involved in some of the high profile feuds like against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon and Baron Corbin. He also participated in greatest royal rumble at Saudi Arabia.

L – “Little Big” Alexa Bliss and Braun Strowman

Arguably the reason for the success of the WWE Mixed Match challenge season one was the team Little Big. Bonding of Alexa Bliss and Braun Strowman was liked by a majority of WWE fans. They were the runner-ups for the first season and announced for the second season as well. However, injuries of Alexa Bliss prevent this team to participate in the second season.

M – McMahon Family

The McMahon family is once again in power in Raw and SmackDown. Triple H and Shane McMahon participated and even wrestle very actively in 2018. They were always supported to the first ever women Royal Rumble match, Elimination Chamber match, and top of this first-ever women only pay-per-view.


Like every other year, NXT once again proved itself. The roaster of NXT is full of talented superstars. Tommaso Ciampa, Velveteen Dream, Ricochet, Johnny Gargano, Lars Sullivan, Undisputed Era, Heavy Machinery, EC3, Kairi Sane, Shayna Baszler etc. The list is too long. The matches between them were fun to watch and act as the best treatment for a wrestling fan.

O – OMG moments

WWE had improved its in-ring competition quality in recent years. Strowman threw Shane McMahon on announce table, Lesnar and Reigns broke steel cage, Cena put Styles through the table, Strowman destroyed Kane and Lesnar, Kofi Kingston’s another miraculous save in Royal rumble match and many more.

P – Paige

Due to her injuries, on 9th April 2018, Paige announced her retirement from in-ring competition. She was a shocking and emotional moment for Paige and her fans. However, WWE gave Paige duties as SmackDown general manager. Shane McMahon released her from her duties after  McMahon family took control over Raw and SmackDown Live.

Q – “Queen” Charlotte Flair

Charlotte Flair entered in 2018 as women’s champion and broke Asuka’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania 34. At Evolution, she and Becky Lynch gave one of the best matches of 2018 with last women standing stipulation. At Survivor Series 2018, she destroyed Raw women’s champion Ronda Rousey to continue the saga between her, Becky and Ronda.

R – Ronda Rousey

“The Baddest Woman On The Planet” Ronda Rousey debuted in WWE at Royal Rumble PPV just after the main event. Her in-ring debut was at WrestleMania 34 when she teamed up with Kurt Angle against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Since then she is still undefeated and actively dominating Raw roaster as Raw Women’s champion.

S – Shawn Micheals

WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Micheals returned from his retirement in Crown Jewel to team up with Triple H against The Undertaker and Kane “The Brothers of destruction”. It was unexpected but WWE pays a big amount for this Micheals agreed finally to return to the ring.

T – “The Man” Becky Lynch

A mid-year transformation of Becky Lynch made the fans towards her. Her heel promo defined her character in The Man in WWE. She lifts up SmackDown women’s championship from Charlotte in a high profile match. She now stands on the precipice of the first ever all-female WrestleMania main event as a result.

U – Undisputed Era

Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly, and Roderick Strong were part of Undisputed Era faction. They rocked NXT with their dominance and continuously enjoyed different title runs in NXT. With the opponents like  Ricochet, British Strong Style they gave best wrestling matches of 2018.

V – Velveteen Dream

Another member of NXT in this list. Velveteen Dream was originally broke out at TakeOver: War Games battle with Aleister Black in 2017. However, she outshines again in 2018 against the opponents like Tommaso Ciampa and Ricochet.

W – WrestleMania 34

Every WrestleMania is the most awaited show of the year. WWE presented once again a big show in 2018. From Ronda Rousey in-ring debut to Daniel Bryan’s return to WWE, WrestleMania 34 was everything that fans wanted. The Undertaker squashed John Cena was one of the most memorable moments from WrestleMania 34.

X – Xia Li

Xia Li made history in 2017 when she became the first ever Chinese female to wrestle under WWE. She debuted in May Young classic in 2017 and was also part of 2018 edition. After her performance in WWE, management advanced her into NXT this year.

Y – Youtube

In 2018, WWE crossed a mark of 37 million subscribers on Youtube and as of writing WWE Youtube channel had a total of 28,918,774,961 views in all videos. Impressive!!

Z – Zelina Vaga

Zelina Vaga impressed everyone with her mick skills in both NXT and main roster. Currently, she is managing Andrade “Cien” Almas on SmackDown Live.
